Systemet is a collective, once based in Sweden, that challenges the architecture of a standard band. While the sounds have their roots in early industrial, dungeon synth, dark ambient and noise drone music, only a segment of Systemet is a harsh reinterpretation of the mix of these genres.
Based on a late-autumn trek in the Sami region of Sweden, north of Mount Kenekaise (see cover photo), När Vintern Kommer Till Sverige attempts to render the sensations of an on-coming winter. Once back to Stockholm, after various previous rehearsals, they gathered together in their private studio in Hägersten and recorded nonstop for 3 days and 3 nights to keep the feeling of their experience alive.
Recorded live, no over-dubs, on a quadraphonic system, and mixed to stereo. No field recordings were used, only synthesized sounds performed with ELI and ELQ, two custom self-made synthesizers.
In “När Vintern Kommer Till Sverige”, all members have a unique role: B.J. is a mad Belgian feedback scientist/performer and infra sugar daddy, E.L. is an Italian broken machine player and chaos worshipper while G.G. is an Italian video engineer and trekking mistress.
